CONTEST: “Brush up your Shakespeare!”

We’re launching a month-long “Brush up your Shakespeare” contest!

We’re excited to be presenting four Shakespeare plays next season: Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, Othello and Measure for Measure. While we’re building sets, sewing costumes and rehearsing lines, you can get ready for 2013 by spending some quality time with our house playwright! As Cole Porter said, “Brush up your Shakespeare, / Start quoting him now. / Brush up your Shakespeare / And the women (or men) you will wow.”

What do you need to do?
We want you to “Brush up your Shakespeare” wherever you go. Take a photo of yourself reading Shakespeare in the most outlandish place you can imagine – but be safe!

Now get reading and be creative!

What’s the prize?
You could win a pair of tickets to our 2013 opening night performance of Romeo and Juliet, along with a copy of our Shakespeare Lover’s Journal so that you can keep track of all of your Shakespearean adventures!

Contest rules:

• Send photo entries to socialmedia@stratfordfestival.ca along with your first and last name, phone number, your twitter handle (if you have one) and your Stratford Festival patron account number.
• You must be reading Shakespeare in your photo
• Entries will be accepted between November 16, 2012, and December 13, 2012.*

The winner will be chosen by selected Festival staff members and will be announced on December 14, 2012, through our Facebook page, Twitter account, blog and Google+ page. The winner will also receive a personal e-mail confirming their winning entry.

*Failure to include any of the information required above will render submissions null and void. By sending in your entries you allow the Festival to use your photos and to share them through our social media channels. To retrieve your Stratford Festival patron account number, log into our website and click on “My Account.” Opening night performance is on May 27, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. The winner is responsible for their own transportation to and from the theatre.
